The logo, created especially for the Apostolic Journey of Pope Francis in Greece, clearly depicts its significance, five years after the first trip of the Holy Father to our country, on April 16, 2016 and his historic meeting in Lesvos with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos.
Ιt represents the Church as a ship traversing the troubled waters of our world, with the cross of Christ as its mast and its sails driven by the wind of the Holy Spirit. The shape of the sails evokes the figure of the Pope, who comes as a friend of Greece, while the colors of the logo, yellow and blue, symbolize the flags of the Vatican and the Hellenic Republic.
